Moonlight and Roses

Victoire models a new holiday coat ensemble from Bellissima Couture Fashions.

The subtle play of shiny and matte tones of silver in the fabric of the coat and sheath results in a supremely elegant and sophisticated look for this festive time of year.  The swing coat is fully lined in silver silk dupioni and features a black (faux) fur collar and Swarovski crystal buttons.

The sheath dress sports a ruched silk cummerbund and bow detail.  Accessories include a black (faux) fur muff, fully lined in silver silk dupioni, a pillbox hat in silver brocade with bow and black net veil, and black Swarovski crystal earrings.

Victoire sparkles in this cocktail dress for the holiday season called “Snowflake.”  The slim, boat-necked sheath dress is made of white silk brocade, richly hand beaded with silver beads and pearls.  A sparkle silver tulle overskirt invites twirling.

Veronique is ready to shine for the holidays in this elegant slim gown of iridescent embroidered silk.

The fabric is dark bottle green woven with bright purple, resulting in an unusual and glamorous play on color when it catches the light.  The embroidered pattern of flowers and leaves is subtly metallic, adding sparkle and shine.  A ruched cummerbund of metallic silk organza and a dramatic flower with crystal center defines the waist.  A bright pink Swarovski crystal cocktail ring completes this chic holiday look.

One of my passions is fabric and I am always on the lookout for unusual and special pieces.  I was very excited to find a heavenly piece of silk gazar damask the other day.  Silk gazar is similar to silk organza and has a gorgeous, crisp finish that makes it ideal for full skirted party dresses.  This particular fabric has a tonal rose pattern in satin and matte finishes, resulting in a heavenly tone on tone pattern that catches the light.  And of course the color, which is a blush rose pink, is absolutely delicious.

Blush is an elegant party dress with a dropped waist, ruched decolletage and full skirt.  A black net petticoat with scalloped edges peeks out from the bottom of the skirt and a black silk bow and sash decorates the waist.

Rose City Romance

Some of you might not know that my new city of Portland, Oregon is named the Rose City.  This little cocktail dress is an homage to our new home.

The dress is made of palest pink silk taffeta with a black tulle rose fabric over the skirt.  A wide silk belt and bow decorates the waist.  The dress includes the flirty fascinator hat!

I made a few of these dresses for the Integrity Convention, but they went so fast that I promised that I would make more.  So here they are!  This is an open edition and can be made to fit any 1/6 scale fashion doll.

Now that the leaves have mostly fallen and there is a distinct chill in the air, I chose to make a suit from this gorgeous wool plaid that I have had in my fabric stash for quite some time, waiting for the right moment.  I love the shades of rose, cranberry and charcoal and the way they blend together to create new colors.

The peplumed jacket has a rounded collar, bracelet length sleeves and tiny faceted gunmetal buttons down the front.  A large bow in cranberry silk is nestled in the small of the back.  The jacket and pencil skirt are both lined in the same cranberry silk.  A jaunty tam o’ shanter hat with a cranberry silk bow and feather tops off this cozy, elegant suit.

Black and Blue

I was in a blue mood the other day…not sad, but rather I wanted to sew with this stunning Kingfisher Blue silk taffeta.  Black and blue has been all over the runways for Fall.  So I made not one, but two fashions.
First, a coat ensemble in an Asian floral print in blue and black touched with gold.  The coat has bracelet length sleeves, a funnel collar and faceted cobalt blue buttons.  It is fully lined in Kingfisher silk.  The coordinating cocktail sheath is made of black silk dupioni with a ruched silk cummerbund and bow detail in Kingfisher silk.  A band hat of feathers provides the dramatic finishing touch.

Second, a chic little lace cocktail sheath in Kingfisher Blue silk taffeta overlaid with exquisite black lace.  A large taffeta bow and brooch detail adds interest and bling to the shoulder.
