Five years ago, after losing my mother, I created a series of flower gowns in her memory. They’ve been popping up in my memories lately, so I thought I would bring them back for a brief encore.

The gowns are based on dresses by the Romanian design duo Chotronette and consist of a lavish tulle skirt encasing flowers, leaves, and Swarovski crystals.

This particular gown features pansies, violets, hydrangeas, lilies, and leaves, encased in dark purple tulle. The bodice is an iridescent plum colored silk. A hand dyed silk ribbon is tied at the waist.

The second fashion to benefit the Ukraine

Another beautiful fabric from Rifle Paper Company depicting a grove of lemon trees with bluebirds in the branches. The classic swing coat is fully lined in blue silk and sports white faceted glass buttons. The coordinating party dress is made from the same blue silk as the lining and has a white tulle underskirt.

Like so many of us, I have been deeply shaken by the events unfolding in the Ukraine in the last week. Feeling helpless to do much, I nevertheless find myself inspired by the people, their symbolic colors, their national symbols. Creating doll fashions is how I express myself, so over the next few days I will be creating fashions inspired by the Ukraine. 15% of the proceeds from these special fashions will be donated to a support agency that benefits the relief efforts in the Ukraine.

This ensemble is created from a beautiful new print from Rifle Paper Company in shades of blue with pops of yellow, paired with lemon zinger silk dupioni. The coat is fully lined in yellow silk and sports yellow buttons. The matching party dress is made of the same yellow silk, with layers of white tulle to give volume to the skirt.
