Sheath Suit in Liberty of London Rachel

Liberty of London’s Rachel was newly introduced to the Tana Lawn Classics for AW15 / 2016. This particular colorway of teal, yellow, and fuchsia is fresh and filled with summer flowers like honey suckle blooms, buttercups and Queen Anne’s lace.   The suit consists of a slim sheath with a bright pink silk noil skirt and Liberty print boat necked bodice.  A band of the print defines the waist.  The cropped jacket in the pink noil has bracelet length sleeves and is fully lined in the print.  A narrow scarf from the print acts as a collar to the jacket and ties loosely in front, fastened with a magnetic brooch.  The scarf is hand fringed.  The magnetic brooch can be used with the sheath alone or on the jacket.

This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Vintage Barbie, Victoire Roux, FR2 and Nu Face

Met Ball Mannequin Maven Dressed Doll

I am pleased to present this stunning one-of-a-kind collaboration between Bellissima Couture and Maryann Roy of Welcome Home.  Met Ball was originally a Happy Go Lightly Silkstone who Maryann transformed into an alluring, vintage beauty.  Her red hair is swept up and highlighted by a pale yellow silk ribbon.  Her eye shadow is classic blue, her lips a rosy coral.  She is wearing an extravagant gown in plaid silk taffeta.  The large bell skirt floats like it is made of air, with layers of turquoise blue tulle underneath for volume.  The bodice is close fitting and dropped waist.  A band of the plaid silk creates a halter neckline that finishes in back with a bow and and fringed sash detail.  White satin opera gloves with a pearl button detail cover her slender arms.  In her right hand she holds a tiny nosegay of vintage flocked flowers with trailing yellow silk ribbons.

Available in a variety of colors, this version of Ros features delicate pansies in red and rose pink scattered on a white ground.  The off the shoulder bodice has a dropped waist and a gathered bust, decorated with red seed beads and a central pearl.  A red silk belt with a white enamel buckle decorates the waist.  The full skirt has layers of red tulle for added volume.

Sheath Suit in Liberty of London Pepper

Part of Liberty of London’s classic range, Pepper was first designed by the Jack Prince Studio in 1974 and has been a classic since 1979.  It comes in a wide variety of color combinations, including this one in shades of purple.  The suit features a slim sheath in orchid silk noil for the skirt and the Pepper print for the boat necked bodice.  A wide band of the print defines the waist.  The matching jacket is boxy in shape with bracelet length sleeves.  The jacket is also made from orchid silk noil and is fully lined in the Pepper print.  A narrow scarf in the print forms a collar for the jacket and then fastens in front with the aid of a magnetic brooch in shades of purple.  The scarf is hand fringed.  The brooch is versatile and can be worn with the jacket or with the sheath by itself.

This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Victoire Roux, Poppy Parker, Nu Face, and FR2

OOAK DOLL FESTIVAL IN NYC

I just returned from a wonderful week in New York City attending the first ever OOAK Doll Festival.  This event was organized by Rocky Schmidt, Mario and Gianni of Magia 2000, and Nik and Marie of Ninimomo.  The theme of the convention was a celebration of the collectors and creators of one of a kind dolls, clothes, and miniatures.  Both Rebecca Berry of Inside the Fashion Doll Studio, and Rogier Corbeau of Dutch Fashion Doll World, have been covering this event on their blogs, so I wanted to refer you there for all the best coverage and photos.  Just follow the links on their names above.

I have a few pieces from the show available that I will be listing over the next couple of days, including a doll, so stay tuned.

Sea Spray Party Dress

Pale sea foam green is overlaid with an exquisite silver French lace in this lovely party dress.  The strapless, dropped waist bodice is made from silvery green silk covered in silver lace.  A band of sea foam green silk decorates the top of the bodice along with a poof of aqua tulle and vintage blue crystal rosette.  The full skirt has 8 layers of aqua tulle with a silver eyelash lace over skirt.  Subtle, elegant, and feminine.

This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Poppy Parker, Victoire Roux, FR2, and Nu Face dolls

Bella Primavera Party Dress

As soft and delicate as the first breath of spring, this tulle party dress is a true harbinger of the season.  The dropped waist bodice is made from pale pink silk with a wrap of shimmery pink tulle, fastened with colored flowers (the wrap slips easily over the doll’s head).  The bubble skirt is made of layers of pink shimmer tulle with flowers floating between them.  A unique and feminine party dress.

This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Poppy Parker, Victoire Roux, FR2 and Nu Face

News from Bellissima Couture

Posted on

I have had a number of people ask me why Bellissima Couture has not been listing items for sale for the last month.  I have been very busy with projects related to an exciting new doll event that makes its debut next week in New York City!  The OOAK Doll Festival is organized by Rocky Schmidt, Magia 2000, and Ninimomo.

This is a very exclusive event limited to just over 100 attendees from all over the world.  The theme of the festival is OOAK, or One of a Kind, and I am so pleased to be taking part.  Some of the events planned are a “make your own One of a Kind doll,” an “Unconventional Materials” Challenge (familiar to Project Runway fans), and a “Golden Ticket” event where more than 20 OOAK dolls are donated by artists.  Each guest of the festival will receive an equal number of tickets free of charge to enter to win one (or more!) of these beautiful dolls.  Check out the blogs Inside the Fashion Doll Studio and Dutch Fashion Doll World  for some sneak peeks of these beauties.  There will also be a Live Auction, dinner events hosted by Magia 2000 and Ninimomo, even a trip to Mood Fabrics with yours truly along as a tour guide!  Rocky was able to secure a number of tickets to the Broadway hit Hamilton, so many guests will be seeing this musical phenomenon on Sunday afternoon as well.

I will be selling fashions in the salesroom, which is open to the public on Saturday, February 18 from 1-5 in Broadway Ballroom Acts 3/4 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, located directly on Broadway between 48th and 49th streets.  Rebecca Berry, from Inside the Fashion Doll Studio, and I have collaborated on loads of giftsets and we both have new styles to share.

In addition to making things to sell, I have also had a lot to do with behind the scenes surprises that will be revealed during the course of next week, including centerpiece dolls and a Golden Ticket doll, both collaborations with Maryann Roy, and a Live Auction collaboration.  I will also be teaching a workshop on how to embellish a simple black dress in preparation for the Make your own OOAK event.  So it has been an extremely busy time!  But never fear, Bellissima Couture will be back to listing fashions on Etsy again in a few weeks.

Rogier and Rebecca will be posting all the exciting news from the festival on their blogs (links given above), so be sure to tune in to see all the wonderful dolls, people, and fun!
