Inspired by print impressions found at Liberty London’s Merton print works, the Phoebe fabric design was first printed as a scarf in 1966 and has been a part of the classic Tana Lawn collection in various colorways since 2002.  This colorway is in shades of periwinkle, lilac, rose, and fuchsia with touches of green on a white ground.  The tiny scale of the print and airy texture makes this the ideal fabric for miniature couture.  The gown has a boat necked bodice and ruched cummerbund at the waist.  The extra full skirt is given added volume from layers of lilac tulle.

With dinner in the oven and the children ready for bed, a 1950s housewife would put on a fetching dress and mix a cocktail in preparation for her husband’s return from work.  This full skirted afternoon dress is made from cool navy blue and white checked silk taffeta, with rose pink accents.  The boat necked bodice is accented with French rococo silk ribbon trim in rose, pale pink, and navy.  The full skirt rustles as only silk taffeta can, given added volume from layers of rose pink tulle.  A rose pink silk belt and pewter buckle draws the eye to the model’s tiny waist.
