Based on a fashion worn by Mitzi Gaynor in the movie “For Love or Money” from 1963.
Although the original was in white and yellow with a pattern of sweet peas, I chose to use this Liberty of London fabric in navy blue printed with red and orange pansies because it was similar in scale to the original. The fashion consists of a floor length gown that is open on one side, revealing a pair of red silk capri pants. A red silk sash with fringed ends defines the waist.

Striking orange tulle embroidered with shimmering flowers and an eyelet hem makes up this vibrant gown. The dropped waist, strapless bodice is made from iridescent guava silk. A ruched band of orange tulle drapes across the bust and is beaded at the edges with sparkling guava beads.

A companion piece to the Souvenir de Paris Coat Ensemble, this beautiful gown is made from French blue metallic silk and French blue embroidered tulle with a white lace hem. The strapless, dropped waist bodice has a bow and band detail at the bust. The full tulle skirt has layers of pale blue tulle, giving volume and elegance.

A vintage map of Paris is the subject of the fabric of this coat ensemble. The map depicts the well known streets and monuments of the most romantic city in the world. The color palette is muted, in shades of cream, fawn, French blue, and rose. Rose pearls act as buttons and an Eiffel Tower pin decorates the shawl collar. The coat is lined in metallic French blue silk, which also makes up the accompanying full skirted party dress.

The fabric of this suit is very special and has been in my stash for many years. It is at least 40 years old, and is made from a light weight wool challis. The pattern is classic Liberty of London, which specializes in color saturated florals in a scale that is perfect for the dolls. It is also one of the most expensive fabrics I work with, so this is a very luxurious little suit. The background in an inky navy blue, with coral roses touched with dark red. Foliage in shades of blue and grey add depth. Blush pearls act as buttons, and a peach toned cameo decorates the collar. A coral silk bow belt defines the waist.

This dress was made as a companion piece to the previous suit, in a coordinating shade of orchid. The dress has a square neckline and capped sleeves. A band of Liberty of London floral cotton sits under the bust and is decorated with a flat bow. A tiny diamante bow brooch (removable) decorates the shoulder.

A springtime suit in lilac silk noil and floral Liberty of London. The boxy jacket is made from silk noil and has a rounded collar and pearl buttons. It is fully lined in the Liberty floral cotton. A white enamel and gold flower brooch (removable) decorates the collar. The coordinating sheath dress is made from the Liberty of London floral and sports a pale pink silk band and bow detail at the waist and hip.

This fashionable sheath and jacket is made from a rich purple silk noil and Liberty of London print “Emilia’s Flowers,” a densely patterned floral added to the collection in 2012. The cropped jacket is made from purple silk noil, a textured silk that holds color beautifully. It is fully lined in the Liberty cotton. A fringed scarf in the same cotton is around the neck of the jacket and ties in front, held in place with a gold and enamel flower brooch (removable). The matching sheath dress has a purple noil skirt and floral top, with a wide band of floral cotton at the waist.

This Liberty print called Osborne was part of the Fall 2014 collection and is described as follows:
“Osborne’s Liberty fabric features the olive, orange, apple and grape. Historically significant in many ways, this fruit design is inspired by a tapestry in Mount Stuart’s marble hall. The sketch was painted in vibrant inks to restore the colours of the tapestry to its former glory.”
The design of this sheath and jacket set was awarded Judge’s Choice at the 2014 Integrity Convention and features a casual cropped jacket in wool challis with an attached Liberty scarf that fastens in front with a removable silver bird brooch. The jacket is made from Kingfisher blue wool challis and is fully lined in the Liberty fabric. The matching sheath is made from the Osborne Liberty fabric and is fully lined in Kingfisher blue silk dupioni, which also makes up the ruched cummerbund.
