Another fabric in the Chinoiserie series, this print depicts peacocks in a garden, surrounded by flowers and pagodas.  The coat is lined in bright pink silk and pink semi precious stone beads act as buttons.  The coordinating sheath is made from iridescent orange silk embroidered with vines.  I added tiny pink beads to the vines that twine down the front of the dress, to pick up on the bright pink coat lining.

I have been planning this outfit for Ayumi for a long time, but needed to find the right color silk to coordinate with the coat fabric.  The other day I found this lovely coral pink silk taffeta and it matched perfectly.  The coat is a subdued shade, but with vibrant pops of red and coral from the butterflies that flit among the cherry blossoms.  It is fully lined in coral pink silk and has gold and crystal buttons.  A gold butterfly pin alights on the collar.  The accompanying dress is a strapless sheath in the same coral silk with a richly beaded band along the bust.

A colorful and exotic coat and sheath combination for visiting the extensive ruins in the Egyptian city of Luxor.  Vivid shades of turquoise touched with glittering gold in a stylized peacock feather motif recall the riches of the ancient tombs of the Pharoahs.  The coat has sparkling crystal buttons and brooch.  The coat is fully lined in brilliant turquoise silk taffeta.  The strapless sheath dress is made from the same taffeta overlaid with gold lace.

Poppy models a dreamy party dress, perfect for a Valentine’s Day dinner with her latest beau.  I found this heavenly lace today, with chiffon roses and embroidered blossoms.  The dropped waist bodice is made of pale pink silk and has a band and bow detail at the bodice. Many layers of pale pink tulle gives the skirt volume, perfect for dancing the night away.

It all started with the blue and pink coat.  I associate these colors with Rococo Paris and Marie   Antoinette, two of my favorite inspirations.  As I was working on that coat ensemble, I started wondering what Marie Antoinette would wear if she were alive in 1954 and what she might buy on a shopping trip to Paris.  This developed into a little mini collection of 4 fashions, all inspired by Marie Antoinette.  My model is my most treasured repaint by Matt Sutton.  I have a feeling that this inspiration might carry on for a while longer, so be on the lookout for more fashions in this vein.

Duck Egg Blue Coat with Roses

A gorgeous cotton fabric imported from Norway, the duck egg blue color with rose medallions is classically French Rococo. The coat is fully lined in pale pink silk.  Rose pink buttons decorate the front and a rose pink brooch adds a feminine touch to the shawl collar.  The accompanying strapless sheath is also made from pale pink silk.  The sweetheart neckline is trimmed with pink chiffon roses and tiny pink beads and pearls.

Rose Damask Suit

A lovely rose pink polished cotton is printed with cream colored roses and damask patterns.  Pale pink pearls act as buttons.  A large champagne silk satin bow is nestled into the small of the back.  An extravagant cream flower hat is the perfect accompaniment.

Juliette Coat Ensemble

This aqua fabric has a beautiful shimmer from the foil pattern of birds and flowers.  The coat is fully lined in a shimmering silk organza in aqua.  Deep aqua pearl buttons decorate the front, and a silver flower brooch sparkles on the collar.  The accompanying party dress is made from aqua metallic silk organza, with a pale blue tulle underskirt for fullness.

Dior’s Pink Rose

A classic Dior style, this extravagant bubble dress is made of shimmering pale pink silk.  The strapless bodice is defined by a bow and band under the bust.  The full bubble skirt is decorated with an enormous handmade silk rose detail on the back of the skirt, making this dress equally beguiling from the front or the back.

During the 1920s, scores of nightclubs opened in London’s West End, offering socialites of the day a place to be seen while dancing to the new Jazz from America.  Dancing dresses at the time were simply cut, but heavily embellished and made from luxurious silks and velvets.  This sleeveless dancing dress is made from silk chiffon over a silk organza under dress.  The slim sheath beneath is made from peach silk organza.  The over dress is made from cream colored silk chiffon with Art Nouveau floral pattern in peach, mint green, and red.  The neckline is richly beaded with frosted blush beads.  A pleated cummerbund sits low on the hips and is beaded on the sides.  Bias panels sewn into the side seams add extra flounce for dancing.  A snake bracelet in pink beads and a headband in pink beads and pearls complete the ensemble.

This fashion is a complete one of a kind and is largely hand sewn.  Because of its loose shape, it will fit most 12″ dolls.
