Tourmaline is one of my favorite gemstones and it is very prevalent in the state of Maine, where I grew up.  It comes in so many different colors, but most predominant are shades of pink and green.

I love this silk taffeta because it has all of the colors of tourmaline in a summery plaid.  I wanted to emulate the sparkle of these beautiful gems, so the neckline is richly beaded with beads in tourmaline colors.  A watermelon pink silk taffeta pleated cummerbund decorates the waist.
