When I found this fabric last week, I could almost taste the tartness of the lemons. It felt like summer. The prints are all related in color and pattern.
The first outfit is a coat ensemble with pants and a top. The capri pants are made from bright lemon yellow silk. The sleeveless shell is made from white eyelet lined with pink silk, giving a touch of color that shows through the holes in the eyelet. The swing coat in made from a brilliant print in bright pink, white, and yellow and is fully lined in bright yellow silk. Faceted white glass beads serve as buttons and a white enamel flower brooch shines on the collar.
The second outfit is a slim sheath dress in the same lemon print at the coat, but in shades of yellow. A white silk sash and bow defines the waist and a silver and pearl brooch sparkles on the bodice. The dress is fully lined in white silk.
The third outfit is a Rockabilly dress in pale pink scattered with bright yellow lemons. The sweetheart bodice has a pleated band that stretches under the bust and over the shoulders as straps. A full skirt invites twirling at a summer mixer.

This delicate Liberty pattern is part of the 2015 collection of Alice in Wonderland inspired prints and was made by Alex Monroe, an established handmade jewellery designer. Alex named the print after his mother and was inspired by this passage from the book.

It has all the freshness of a rain washed spring day, with chamomile flowers, clover leaves and flowers, and yellow buttercups on a white ground. The strapless, dropped waist bodice has a band and bow in bright yellow silk at the top. The voluminous bubble skirt is as light as air.

Today I found a scrap of this Liberty fabric in my scrap box, just enough to make a bodice, so I made this cheerful little sheath dress. The print is an impressionistic watercolor floral with shades of pink, purple, and olive green. A belt of the same fabric with a pearl buckle defines the waist. The skirt is made of orchid pink silk noil.

This is a vintage piece of fabric, so I don’t know what it is officially named, but it is classic Liberty of London. Sweet peas in shades of French blue and rose pink are entwined on a navy blue ground with pale green foliage. The strapless, dropped waist bodice has a band and bow of rose pink silk at the top. Part of Liberty of London’s Classic Tana Lawn range, Strawberry Thief features birds intertwined with intricate florals and wild strawberries. It was originally designed by the legendary William Morris in 1883. It takes as its subject the thrushes that Morris found stealing fruit in the kitchen garden of his countryside home, Kelmscott Manor, in Oxfordshire.
Shades of grey, blue, rose and muted greens result in a sophisticated color palette. The sheath dress has the print as the boat necked bodice and the skirt is made from silk shambala in shades of soft green. Shambala is woven from three different silks, tussah, jitta, and noil, each of which takes on color differently, resulting in an ombre effect.
The short swing jacket is made from the shambala and is fully lined in the Liberty print. A scarf attaches to the top of the jacket and ties loosely in front, where it is held in place by a silver bird brooch. Another band of the Liberty print marks the transition between the bodice and skirt on the skirt.

A beautifully feminine suit in shades of pink and cream with touches of pale green. The slim, classic sheath is made of pale pink silk gabardine for the skirt and Liberty of London cotton lawn for the bodice in the print “Rosa.” A band of the print marks the transition between the bodice and skirt. The loose fitting swing jacket is made of the pink gabardine and is fully lined with the Liberty print. A scarf of the Liberty fabric is attached to the neckline of the jacket as a collar and loosely ties in front, where it is fastened with a cream enamel and gold brooch. The ends of the scarf are hand fringed.
