Hostess Gown in Liberty of London Peony Pavilion

Posted on

Peony Pavilion, part of Liberty’s AW15 collection, was originally titled “Chinese Garden.” It was chosen by fashion designer Anna Sui from the archives, and is based on a design from 1974. Liberty has many Chinoiserie style designs, from 1879 and the 1950s.  Chinoiserie was a popular style movement in the 1950s and is made up into a beguiling hostess gown, also popular in the 1950s.  The overdress has a boat neck with a full skirt that is split in front, revealing the bright red silk capri pants underneath.  The same bright red is made into a hand fringed sash that ties on the side.

This fashion fits most 1/6 scale dolls, including Severine and Vintage Barbie.
