En Vacances in Liberty of London Wildflower

Posted on

Wildflower was initially inspired by illustrations from an early 19th Century book, “Field Guide to Wild Flowers in Britain.”  It comes in a number of beautiful colorways, and this one has bright shades of yellow, pink, and purple on a white ground.  Tiny wild strawberries peak out from among the flowers.

The boat necked sundress has a full skirt that is split in front to reveal the primrose yellow silk capri pants underneath.  The yellow is also seen in the silk bow belt at the waist.  A knotted head scarf keeps every hair and place.

This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie (Classic and Articulated), Poppy Parker, and Victoire Roux

Hostess Gown in Liberty of London Peony Pavilion

Posted on

Peony Pavilion, part of Liberty’s AW15 collection, was originally titled “Chinese Garden.” It was chosen by fashion designer Anna Sui from the archives, and is based on a design from 1974. Liberty has many Chinoiserie style designs, from 1879 and the 1950s.  Chinoiserie was a popular style movement in the 1950s and is made up into a beguiling hostess gown, also popular in the 1950s.  The overdress has a boat neck with a full skirt that is split in front, revealing the bright red silk capri pants underneath.  The same bright red is made into a hand fringed sash that ties on the side.

This fashion fits most 1/6 scale dolls, including Severine and Vintage Barbie.

En Vacances in Liberty of London Garden Wonderland

Posted on

Garden Wonderland is a brilliant beautiful floral from the Alice in Wonderland themed Spring/Summer 2015 Collection by Liberty Art Fabrics.

‘She knelt down and looked along the passage into the loveliest garden you ever saw. How she longed to get out of that dark hall and wander about among those beds of bright flowers.’

This design was selected by Kathryn Beaumont, an English actress and school teacher best known for providing the voices of both Alice in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Wendy in Disney’s Peter Pan.

This breezy and cool ensemble consists of a boat necked sundress with a full skirt that is split in front to reveal the vivid orange silk capri pants underneath.  The orange silk is also represented in the bow belt at the waist.  A knotted headband keeps every hair in place.

This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie (Classic and Articulated), Poppy Parker, and Victoire Roux

En Vacances in Vintage Liberty of London

I bought this fabric at a small shop years ago and do not know the name of the pattern, but it is a classic pattern of twisting vines, flowers, leaves, and fruits in shades of blues and greens on a white ground.  The style is a breezy boat necked sundress with a full skirt that is split in the front, revealing capri pants in jade green silk that is woven with pale pink, giving it a beautiful iridescence.  A bow belt in the same green silk adds interest to the waist.  A knotted head scarf in the print keeps every hair in place.

En Vacances in Liberty of London Lodden

Posted on

Lodden, one of the great arts and crafts textile designs of the past, was revived for Liberty’s Autumn/Winter 2007 collection. It was originally designed by William Morris in 1884, but was made into Liberty’s own design by rescaling and recoloring.   This colorway has shades of purple, pink, grey, and yellow.

This breezy summer style consists of a boat necked sundress with a full skirt that is split in front to reveal the silk capri pants underneath.  The pants are made from a dusky amethyst silk, which is picked up by the bow belt at the waist.  A knotted head wrap keeps every hair in place.

This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie (Classic and Articulated), Poppy Parker, and Victoire Roux
