I found this lovely Japanese fabric the other day and made up a coat from it in honor of all of my friends who have been in Paris at the Paris Fashion Doll Festival. When I was living in France after college, there was a patisserie down the street from my apartment. The pastries displayed in the window were miniature works of art. I decided to try a different one every week. How did I limit myself to only one a week!? I don’t think I would have such self control now!
The fabric is dove grey with a hint of lavender and is covered with charming watercolor images of famous French pastries and delicate French script. The coat is fully lined in iridescent orchid silk and orchid purple pearls act as buttons. A vintage Eiffel Tower brooch decorates the shawl collar. A fitted, strapless cocktail sheath is made from iridescent orchid silk overlaid with pink and silver lace.
This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Victoire Roux, and FR2 dolls.
Pale blue and silver are the colors of this feminine and delicate party dress. The dropped waist, strapless bodice is made from metallic silk in French blue. A band and bow in the same silk defines the bust. The skirt is made from silver grey net embroidered in blue and silver. Multiple layers of silver sparkle and pale blue tulle give the skirt fullness.
This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Victoire Roux, and FR2 dolls.
Shades of coral and spring green are the predominant colors in this feminine party dress. The net skirt is embroidered with dark and light coral geraniums with spring green leaves. Layers of coral pink tulle give fullness to the skirt. The dropped waist, strapless bodice is made from coral silk. A drape of coral tulle embroidered with beads gives texture to the bodice.
This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Victoire Roux, and FR2 dolls.
A dramatic hostess gown in a Liberty of London print called Tiny Poppytot.
“Tiny Poppytot was inspired by illustrations in children’s magazines from the 1930s. The design features flowers with symbolic meaning: bluebell for the Greek moon goddess Selene, and the snowdrops and honeysuckles symbolise friendship, consolation, hope and devoted love.”
The gown is open on one side, revealing the iridescent saffron silk capri pants. A purple silk, hand fringed sash is tied at the waist.
This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Victoire Roux, and FR2 dolls (gown will be somewhat shorter on taller dolls)
This elegant hostess gown is in a delicate watercolor print by jewelry designer Alex Monroe for Liberty of London. The artist was inspired by the following passage from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
”O Tiger – Lily!” said Alice, addressing herself to one that was waving gracefully about in the wind, ”I wish you could talk!”
”We can talk,” said the Tiger Lily: ”when there’s anybody worth talking to.” – Lewis Carroll
Tiny dragonflies flit in and out of graceful tiger lilies in rose highlighted with bright pink. Bright pink silk capri pants can be glimpsed under the full skirt, which opens on one side. A bright pink silk, hand fringed sash ties at the waist.
This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Poppy Parker, Victoire Roux, and FR2 (though the dress will be shorter on the taller dolls)
This fabric is such a favorite that I am offering it in a party dress. The dropped waist, off the shoulder bodice has a ruched bust with pale yellow and spring green beads. The skirt is made full by bright yellow tulle and a yellow silk bow belt.
This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Victoire Roux, and FR2 dolls.
Ciara, a vibrant print from Liberty’s 2014 collection, is like visiting a tropical island filled with exotic flowers and plants. This spicy party dress has an off the shoulder, dropped waist bodice with a ruched bust highlighted with colorful beads. The skirt is made full by layers of bright orange tulle. A magenta silk bow belt defines the waist.
This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Victoire Roux, and FR2 dolls.
This Liberty fabric is appropriately named Wild Flowers. It is one of the most beautiful fabrics I have ever seen. Every time I look at it, I see something that I missed.
“Wild Flowers by Su Blackwell is a recollection of early childhood journeys across the British landscape in discovery of native flora. This joyous Liberty fabric was initially inspired by illustrations from an early 19th Century book, ‘Field Guide to Wild Flowers in Britain’.”
The dress has a voluminous bubble skirt and strapless bodice, defined by a yellow silk bow and band detail.
This dress best fits smaller busted dolls like Silkstone Barbie, Poppy Parker, Nu Face, and FR2 dolls.
This Liberty of London print is a delicate watercolor of buttercups, clover, and chamomile scattered on a white ground, perfect for Spring! The gown has a boat neck and flowing, floor length skirt that is open on one side, revealing the silk capri pants beneath. The pants are made of sunny yellow silk taffeta, matching the hand fringed sash at the waist.
This fashion fits Silkstone Barbie, Victoire Roux, and FR2 dolls.
This whimsical print is a new Liberty of London print described as follows:
“A fun and conversational print, the Forget-Me-Nots fabric design displays the contents of a modern Liberty lady’s handbag, including Liberty print address books and diaries as well as the daily essentials. It represents Liberty’s beautiful Handbag Room on the Ground Floor.”
Poppy is the perfect model for this flirty strapless sundress with a sweetheart neckline, defined by a band and bow in coral silk. The full skirt has a spring green tulle underskirt. The cute bolero jacket in spring green silk noil is fully lined in the Liberty print.
This fashion fits Poppy Parker and Silkstone Barbie.
