Hot (Pink!) Commodity

Now For Sale on Ebay!

As you might have guessed, I have been busy sewing lately and having such a great time!  The combination of hot pink, black and white is a classic and one of my favorite color stories.

This fashion was inspired by my favorite new Monogram and her striking coloring.  The swing coat is made of a hot pink silk faille and is lined with a whimsical cotton print in white, pink and black.  Underneath the coat is a sleeveless sheath in the same fashionable cotton print with a black and white checked silk bow detail.  A black and white checked silk bow hat finishes off this ultra fashionable ensemble.

This fashion will fit Monograms, Silkstones, FR2, Poppy Parker and Nu Face dolls.

A Visit to the Musée de Cluny

Now for Sale on Ebay!

Madmoiselle Victoire Roux is  planning to visit the Musée National du Moyen Âge in Paris today.  Always conscious of how she is dressed for every occasion, Victoire has chosen to wear a dress made from Liberty of London Tana Lawn in a print that is reminiscent of perhaps the most famous pieces of art in the museum’s collection; the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries.

Victoire’s full skirted day dress has a tulle underskirt in deep orange and red, and a sash in olive green silk taffeta.  Victoire tops her ensemble with a dark red capelet in silk noil, fully lined in the “tapestry” cotton lawn.  A jaunty beret in the same silk noil adds the final touch, trimmed with vintage velvet flowers and an olive green taffeta bow.

Bien sûr, this fashion was designed with Victoire as the inspiration, but it will also fit Silkstone Barbie, Poppy Parker, Monograms and Nu Face dolls.

This fashion includes the dress, capelet and hat.  It does not include the doll, stand, shoes or background.

Lavande: a new fashion for Silkstones, Monograms and Poppy Parker

Now available on Ebay!

I have had this stunning purple silk brocade for a few months now and have been dreaming of what I would do with it when I was finally able to get to it.  Well, today was the day.  I decided that I would make a classic swing coat with a nehru collar and three quarter length sleeves.  The coat is fully lined in a dark lavender silk and has glass buttons.  The sheath dress has a sleeveless top in lavender silk and a slim skirt in the brocade.  A silver buckle decorates the waist.  An oversized bow hat finishes the look.  This fashion fits Silkstones and Monograms.  It will also fit Nu Face and Poppy.

My Latest Obsession

I am so in love with the newest Monogram from Integrity Toys.  This beauty was the centerpiece doll from the last night and, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful dolls in the entire convention collection.  Here she is modeling a fashion that perfectly complements her complexion.  The sheath dress has a black silk top and a bright pink hounds tooth silk brocade skirt.  A bright pink vintage crystal brooch decorates the bodice.

This fashion was made especially for Monograms, Poppy Parker and Nu Face dolls.

Vanessa in Blue and Brown

Posted on

One of my favorite dolls from the Integrity Convention, which was held over this past weekend in Chicago, is the FR2 Vanessa.  With this doll we see the return of the beloved Vanessa face mold.  She has a classic face paint with red lips and blue eyes.

Here Vanessa models a party dress that perfectly complements her classic, elegant beauty.  The dress is a crisp silk taffeta in deep blue woven with a coppery brown.  A copper tulle petticoat peeks out from the full hemline and a brown silk taffeta bow adorns the waist.

This dress will fit FR2, Poppy, Nu Face, Silkstones and Monograms.

Check out the Gallery!

Some of the feedback that I have received about the new website is that you can no longer browse through my past creations.  Since this is something that I love to do on the sites of my fellow doll clothiers, I have set up a gallery page and am adding my favorite past designs to it gradually.  So enjoy, and thanks so much for the feedback! This site is a work in progress and will continue to develop and improve.

Bellissima on display at The Silk Road

This past Saturday I was delighted to be invited to a special one year anniversary party at my friend Gay Appleby’s fabric shop The Silk Road.  Since I am a frequent patron of the shop and use many of Gay’s fabrics in my fashions, she asked me to make a few outfits to display at the party.  During the course of the afternoon I met so many talented, creative people!  Many commented that my fashions brought back memories of saving pocket money in order to buy a new outfit for Barbie each week.  What a compliment!  Because of course, that is what I, and all my fellow doll clothiers, are aiming for when we make these tiny ensembles.

I snapped a few photos of my setup and am sharing them with you.   You will notice many of the girls are toting the amazing work of La Boutique.  People were very impressed by the bags!  Sadly, I could not claim credit for them.

Bellissima Couture Gets a New Look!

Hello friends and welcome to the new look of Bellissima Couture!

Since 2007 crafting miniature couture has been a wonderful hobby, but starting this September it has become my profession.  Making fashions is now my full time job.  With this transition, I have decided that I will no longer be taking commissions, but rather will introduce a few new fashions a week that will be offered here for sale.  With this change I am hoping to return to making more outfits.  For those of you who love the individual pieces, not to worry! I will continue to offer wiggle dresses, party dresses and other Bellissima favorites from time to time.  And if there is something you are missing or would love to see me make, just post a request in the comments!
